経済産業省は16日、ガソリン価格の高騰を抑えるための政府補助金の支給額が、17～23日はゼロ円になると発表した。足元の原油安を反映した。2022年1月の制度開始以降で補助金がゼロになるのは初めて。10～16日の支給額は4・4円だった。
補助金の支給額は、経産省が毎週の市場価格を踏まえ調整している。小売価格の全国平均が1リットル当たり185円を上回る予測になると、石油元売りに補助金が支給される仕組みだ。17～23日の支給額はゼロ円だが、翌週以降、予想価格が185円を上回る場合は支給が復活する。
経産省によると、14日時点のレギュラーガソリン価格の全国平均は前週比0・2円増の186・5円で、23年9月の最高値に並んだ。17日以降の補助金支給額は足元の原油価格の下落が反映される。14日時点の価格に前週の支給額4・4円を足した後、直近の原油価格変動分8・2円を差し引くと、21日の予測価格が182・7円となる。185円を下回ったため補助金は支給なしとなった。軽油、灯油の補助金も23日までゼロ円となる。
政府は24年11月の閣議で、補助金の段階的な縮小を決めたが、その後も物価高騰が続いていることを受け、補助率などは見直されないまま現在まで継続している。自民、公明、国民民主の3党は、ガソリン税の上乗せ分である「暫定税率」の廃止が実現するまでのつなぎとして、ガソリン価格について6月から一定額を引き下げることで合意したものの、原油価格の下落は今後の具体策の検討に影響を与える可能性がある。
